An example of an immensely popular video sharing website is YouTube – which is in fact the most popular video website on the internet.
The following how to will show to create a video and then share it on your website. It will explain steps starting from recording the video to uploading it to your website. It uses the Windows Encoder software to help you ‘record’ your computer screenwhen making a how to. The tutorial you are making basically shows people how to share a video. The video sharing website we are going to use is YouTube and you are going to show users how to upload and share a video to YouTube.
- Install the Windows Encoder software after downloading it.
- Open the Windows Encoder software once you have downloaded it. Change theoptions so that it records what part of the screen you want for your ‘tutorial’ video.
- Make sure that the Windows Encoder software is only recording your web browser window
- Open your web browser. It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer. Please note that you must have a ‘dummy’ video file on your computer that you will upload – use Windows Movie Maker to add some sound to some photos and create a small video.
- Type in Youtube.com in your web browser.
- Log into YouTube with your username and password.
- Look for the Upload button. Click it. Go through all the processes alongwith browsing the video file on your computer.
- Upload the video. Show the users when it is uploaded.
- After it is uploaded, show them how to embed the video. Click on the embed code and copy it.
- Open any HTML page – offline or online.
- Add in the embed code. Click on preview and show the embedded video.
- When you have finished the tutorial, stop Windows Encoder.
- In Windows Encoder you can add audio if you want. You can also export the video to a number of formats.
- Upload the video to YouTube and share it around via Facebook or Email.
